His debut single, “Once in a lifetime” went double platinum in South Africa having sold over 100000 copies. His subsequent debut album, “One step closer”, included this song as well as “Sole dad”, a cover of the Westlife song which he performed during Idols, and Next stop happiness, which became a single as well.
He was nominated for two South African Music Awards including best single for “Once In A Lifetime” and best pop album for “One Step Closer”. His most recent, mainly Afrikaans album, “24/7/365!”,was launched in July 2011 and reached gold status by February the following year. The first single “1001 Soene”, climbed the SA music charts while the lead English single from the album, “Blindfolded”, co-written by American Idol winner Kris Allen, made it into the English Top 40 and took Adult Contemporary stations by storm.
Fans can look forward to hearing songs from the album as well as some of the older hits which have kept Winckler tops in the hearts and minds of South Africans for over a decade.
